Theoretical Seminar: Causality Constraint in Conformal Field Theory
Causality places nontrivial constraint on QFT in Lorentzian signature. Specializing to the case of CFT, we show how constraints obtained from causality in Lorentzian signature are encoded in reflection positivity together with crossing symmetry in corresponding Euclidean theory. These considerations in Euclidean theory also constrain interactions of certain low-lying operators.
Conversation with Attorney Chris Green
Mr. Green is a Partner in the law firm of Boies, Schiller, and Flexner, which represented Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election lawsuit, Bush v. Gore. Mr. Green specializes in litigation and trials, and is interested to talk with current UK students about developing the skills necessary to succeed as a lawyer; choosing and excelling in law school; about what an attorney’s work is really like; and any other questions you might have about law school or the law.

Sustainability Forum
Please join us for the 2015 Sustainability Forum on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Center on UK's Campus! This event is sponsored by the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment and the UK Appalachian Center. Students are encouraged to submit their posters for consideration, and the top posters will be given prizes. The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 20, 2015. Please contact Suzette Walling for submission instructions and more information: tfise@uky.edu. The Christmas Truce: Myth, Memory and the First World War
Organic Chemistry Seminar
Title: Arranging Molecular Building Blocks with Enhanced Control in the Real and Virtual Worlds
Abstract:The Smaldone Group at the University of Texas, Dallas is primarily interested in the design of novel organic materials using the principles of organic synthesis and self-assembly. Specifically, our research focuses on several key areas: i) developing new methods for the synthesis of porous polymers and covalent organic frameworks for environmental applications in clean energy and pollution control, ii) the design and synthesis of novel polymers for applications in 3D printing and iii) creating games for scientific and chemical education.
