UK Special Collections will celebrate the career of Appalachia scholar and historian Ron D. Eller with the donation ceremony of the Ron Eller Papers Nov. 8.

After a career spent working for the federal government and presidential libraries, UK alum Alan Lowe is the director of the George W. Bush Presidential Library, which is opening today at Southern Methodist University in Texas.

Writer and alumnus John W. Egerton will receive the 2013 University of Kentucky Libraries Award for Intellectual Achievement presented at the UK Libraries Annual Dinner.

In celebration of the University of Kentucky's upcoming sesquicentennial in 2015, the 46th of 150 weekly installments remembers the accomplishments of integration pioneer Doris Wilkinson, one of the first African Americans to participate in the integration of UK after the Supreme Court declared public school segregation illegal.

As part of his "GEO 164 iWorlds" class this past semester, geography professor Matthew Zook assigned students the task of geocoding photographs of streetscapes of Lexington from the first half of the 20th century.

UK Special Collections will unveil the papers of beloved Appalachian author Harriette Simpson Arnow. In celebration of the collection, UK Libraries will host an exhibition and symposium on Arnow's work on Nov. 17.
