Dean's Champions

For many years, the Academic Excellence Fund has provided a vital source of funding for a wide variety of programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Academic Excellence Fund dollars are used in a targeted and strategic manner, combining with other funding sources to launch new initiatives such as Living Learning Programs and FastTrack. These programs increase retention by helping students make connections with peers, become engaged in the academic culture, and form mentoring relationships with faculty.

Academic Excellence Fund dollars also support need-based scholarships and education abroad opportunities, provide seed funding for faculty research, supplement fellowship offers to attract the best graduate students to top programs, and much more.

This funding also enables the Dean to be responsive to new ideas that can positively affect nearly every student on UK’s campus. The College of Arts and Sciences provides the majority of general education courses at UK and is deeply engaged in campus-wide initiatives to help all undergraduate students thrive. Our faculty members are among the university’s top scholars and collaborate with colleagues from across the university—medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, and fine arts, to name a few.

Gifts to the Academic Excellence Fund are more critical than ever. Today, only eight percent of UK’s budget is funded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Your generosity means the difference between merely maintaining programs or continually strengthening and reimagining education and research in the College.

We invite you to partner with us by joining the Dean’s Champions—alumni and friends who give $5,000 or more annually to the Academic Excellence Fund in support of strategic priorities: undergraduate student success initiatives, faculty research, and graduate student support.

As a Dean’s Champion, you provide both financial and moral support. Your gift demonstrates confidence in the direction of the College and enables the Dean to make the real-time decisions necessary to build the strongest possible programs for our students, our faculty, and our state.

Your gift will be recognized in the Dean’s Champions Honor Roll at the annual Dean’s Circle meeting and on the College of Arts and Sciences website.
