Chelsea Ahting

Biography:

As an out of state student, I often am asked why I chose to attend UK. My answer, apart from the basketball and beautiful campus, is that I came for the opportunities the university provides. As a senior, I can say that I have been involved with just about everything! When I was a freshmen, I was apart of the Living Learning Community in my residence hall. It was a great way to meet friends and get acclimated with the Lexington community. My sophomore year I completed undergraduate research as a Chellgren Fellow and studied abroad for a month in Germany through a collaboration between UK and Fulbright. In my junior year I began volunteering in Lexington, which led me to apply for a position in the Center for Community Outreach. I am currently the Director of Students Taking Action Globally through they CCO. I also gained the positon of President for Sigma Iota Rho, which is the International Studies Honor Society at UK. Although I've been busy with extracirriculars, I continue to remain focused on my studies, which is easy thanks to the knowledgeable professors and their compassion for their students.
